A note from the band
Formed in 2002 this year, 2022 marks our 20th anniversary! We are very much looking forward after the last 2 years when we have been restricted in meeting and playing due to the pandemic!
Fortunately, the character of the band has seen us through, we were able to share in ‘Zoom’ meetings and virtual video recordings, but it wasn’t the same.
So we look forward to getting back to enjoying our music making.
This will be our third visit back to Kibworth and hope that you will enjoy our music making. The main function of the band is the participation in the Whit Friday Marches in the beautiful surroundings of the Saddleworth area, where over the years we have enjoyed success. It brings together the grass-roots and premier brass bands from various parts of the UK and now Europe and afar! Over a 100 bands will navigate the 10 mile radius each striving to impress the adjudicators and the crowds that gather. All being well, we shall again be taking part after a two year absence due to covid.
As previously mentioned, this year is our 20th anniversary and we have already marked the occasion with a concert at what we regard as our ‘home’ Leicester South Salvation Army. This was our first engagement for over two years. The combination of the band is that of current and former members, who at heart are ‘Bandos’ who enjoying making music.
So we are looking forward to a busy year with engagements booked throughout.
