The Fourmasons Jazz Band will be performing a variety of music including Traditional, Swing, Latin and Ballads. The performance will take place at St. Wilfrid’s Church Kibworth on Friday the 26th of November at 7pm. There will be a licensed bar on the evening for refreshments. About the band
The Fourmasons are a Midlands based quintet founded on diverse musical histories, with members’ backgrounds in playing swing standards, latin, free improvisation, ska and reggae, as well as afro, pop, rock, funk and experimental musics.
Led by Lee Allatson (drum set: Paul Dunmall/John Russell/Prince Buster/Dawn Penn/Bill Drummond) with Peter Houtman (piano: Alan Skidmore/Dick Pearce) Fino Lopes (guitar: George Martin/Dave Murray), Steve Nutter (bass: Rico Rodriguez/Stan Barker/Clark Tracey) Ryan West (tenor sax: Jazz Colossus/Liane Carroll/Tom Grennan/Mr Switch).
Their set mixes classic standards and a variety of latin feels by the likes of Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Monk, Mancini, Parker and Ellington, the band also draw on modal compositions by Bill Evans and Wayne Shorter, as well as the afro jazz of Dudu Pukwana.
